First Book Series
My work begins with a simple but radical gesture: I take a single Bible—an object saturated with history, belief, authority, and memory—and transform it into a circular, meditative form. Each disk is made entirely from one complete Bible. Nothing is added or removed; the text is simply reconfigured. This act of reshaping a linear narrative into a cyclical one allows me to explore how meaning shifts when its structure changes, and how sacred material behaves when its traditional format is disrupted.
The process is repetitive and slow, more akin to ritual than to craft. I cut the pages by hand, spiral them into dense concentric layers, and secure the form until the book’s original identity dissolves into texture. This labor becomes a kind of contemplation. Through it, I engage with the Bible not as a doctrinal object but as a material body—paper, ink, weight, fragility, abundance. As the text loses readability, it gains physical presence. What was once a vessel for language becomes an object of silence, density, and quiet circular motion.
